99p range Almex A machine.
This is believed to have been new as a 'PDR' machine (see pictures of machine 00155) and rebuilt to fit in a standard Almex casing.
It (like PDRs) does not have a 'throw-back' action, it also lacks a trip number counter and (despite the slot in the casing for the audit roll warning stripe) the facility for an audit roll.
London Country standardised on Almex A machines during the 1970s, replacing Setrights initially on OMO buses, then in the late 70s (with few conductors left) on crew buses as well.
'99p range' machines were cascaded to conductors, who had more time than OMO drivers to issue multiple tickets for high value fares.
