ULTIMATE 6 Barrel machine

A six-barrel Ultimate ticket machine originally thought to have come from British Railways (Cheltenham on the Western Region) but now identified as being supplied new to Carterton's Coaches of Oxford. Condition would suggest very little use. Date is printed on the ticket instead of stage number, the day being altered with the rotary knob on the left and the month & year being changed from within. Each barrel has it's own counter and the "double issue" buttons work as normal. The serial number stamped into the chassis is 60/C/O/S/4 125216

I have posted a picture of tickets issued by the ex-BR Ultimate to show the date format used.
When Ultimates were used on BR they were often used to issue Car Parking tickets. I remember such machines in use in several places. They all printed the date in the manner you say, similar to the way a booking office 'Ultimatic' machine printed the date but with much narrower numbers which often clogged with ink from the ribbon and made the date difficult to read. Old toothbrushes were perfect for keeping the wheels clean. That is what we always used.
