About Me
Over 40 years in the railway industry, but during the 1970s I was also a volunteer booking clerk - Edmondson card - on a preserved railway and at the time £1000 in a shift was not unusual in the summer. I have the following machines: Bell Punch TIM Major (ex-Southdown P415, operator name removed) Ultimate 5-roll 501978 Ultimate 2-roll 2u/P/111583, ex Liverpool Pier Head Mersey Ferries Almex A1491 111356 5-band 00 to 99p and the class codes are S R C E P T D W X with ½S blocked off. 366 is shown on the exterior which prints as 0366 Almex 2154 219956 (European - small ticket roll) 6-band, £99.90 max in 10p steps with class codes - A B D E F G H K L and prints machine number 0377 although there is no number on the exterior Setright Speed (ex-Bournemouth Corporation 169) 1p to 24p Setright Insert 10098 (ex-Aldershot & District H34) = = to 11/11d and both trip and stage numbers 01 - 32 Almex 2001 213184 6-band £0.00 to £9.99 with class codes AS CS AR CR AF CF V1 V2 X and the last position is blocked off and is 'blank' on the keyband. 6552 is shown on the exterior and tickets. It was clearly used on a driver-only vehicle as the outside of the ticket roll compartment has a distinct groove worn in it. It is now altered by myself as part of getting it working properly. When received the yellow £ keyband was partially crushed and I've replaced it with a red one, fitted a new operating handle, ink ribbon, audit roll spool plus audit and ticket rolls. Looking at it, I believe that it may have been previously rebuilt as the bedplate has a slot for insert-type tickets but not the side - also there is no 'trigger' inside which would isolate the paper advance when the Insert is pushed in. But it works well now! I also collect bus/tram tickets and have a good collection from Bournemouth and H&D. I am looking for any Bournemouth Ultimate and Setright Speed rolls (or part-rolls) plus any other machines, tickets or associated documents from the Bournemouth/Poole area.
